Another Traveling Wedding Cake
My other little brother got married this weekend in Colorado. They told me that they wanted the cake to be "playful and crazy" and that "the only rule was that there were no rules." Being that it was a wedding and I didn't want to do something so crazy that I might jack it up beyond repair I stayed a little on the conservative side. My sisters didn't want me to do black tiers but I couldn't help myself. The wedding was in a small town and the guests at the wedding had never seen anything like it before. They were blown away that something like this was even possible with cake. Oh, the bike... They are HUGE bicycle fans and there were bikes all over the place so we had to put one on the cake too. :o)

Something totally different
60th Birthday Party for a woman this time
This customer asked for pretty and elegant. That's not usually what I do but I decided that I had better incorporate some of that into my repertoire if I want to broaden my horizons. I loved doing the pretty cake instead of the funky cake for a change. The only thing I would have changed was the bow on top. I wanted it to be the other direction but it wasn't quite dry enough so we had to sit it the more stable way. But it doesn't matter, it was fantastic.

1 Year Anniversary
The instructions I got for this cake was to make it olive green and black and then I had creative control from there. I saw a picture similar to this one online and I couldn't help but create it. The crazy part was that it matched the tablecloth almost exactly and it was by pure coincidence. It must have been fate. It was unbelievable. This cake seems simple but was way more work than I imagined. You can't really see it but the ribbons around each tier were made of black fondant and were all folded up to look like satin fabric and it took a very long time. Then doing the bows on their sides was another challenge. But I absolutely LOVE this cake. It now rests very high on my favorite cakes list.
