Tempestt gets married!

The wedding that this cake was for was the most beautiful wedding!  The bride looked like a fairy princess and the location (El Rico's in Queen Creek) was fantastic.  Her colors were bright pink and orange.  I looked at the picture of the cake she wanted and said no problem...  Then when I started working on it, it was so much more work that I imagined, but totally worth it!  It turned out great.  The top 3 layers were real cake but they didn't eat it because no one wanted to chop into the cake.
These were the cupcakes I made for the same wedding as the cake above.  They didn't want to chop into the cake too early so they had mini cupcakes for the kids to eat in the mean time.  They were vanilla with orange cream topping, chocolate with raspberry, and chocolate with vanilla.  I have done these for several weddings but just didn't post their pictures.  These were a really big hit... Who knew...

Babies, Babies, and More Babies...

Once again, a baby shower cake.  I really love doing these!  I got to have full creative control on this one too and it was a good time.  The polka dot line runs down the back too.  I am in love with this bow.  I originally tried to make it bigger but when I put in on the cake I'm glad I didn't because it was HUGE!  This cake made my whole weekend.  I just LOVE what I do.  :o)

A Yin Yang Wedding Cake

This wedding cake was for an "opposites attract" type couple and the bride wanted a yin yang type cake to reflect that.  She picked out the light and dark colors and wanted it half and half.  I deliberated over it for days and came up with this.  We wanted it to be unique and different but at the same time elegant and classy.  I hope we succeeded at that.  I didn't get to see the reaction of the couple but 0ne man told me it was like a "little masterpiece."

Another Suns Themed Grooms Cake

This one was a surprise for the groom.  He is a huge Suns fan and the bride wanted to do something special for him on the wedding day.  I didn't get to see the reaction of the couple but the hotel staff at the venue loved it.  :o)

3 Year Old's Star Wars Birthday

This darling little boy that lives down the street from me wanted a star wars cake with Darth Vader and a red light saber on it. We thought about making the cake Darth Vader but then I got really scared and couldn't go through with it. I couldn't bear the thought of messing it up so I just went with round. His mom found the Darth Vader candle holder with the red candle in it so that part worked out. Then the trim around the bottom was a red light saber with a silver handle. It was a really fun cake to do.

It's a flowery event

I had full creative control on this one and sometimes that makes me nervous. The client said the theme of the party was garden looking flowers in distressed stone pots. I wanted to somewhat keep with the theme but still do my own thing so this is what I came up with. This fondant is actually chocolate flavored so it's a little bit better than regular fondant. I thought this cake was darling!

Not Fancy but DELISH!!

I had a request for a cake that "doesn't have the stiff frosting." So this is what I came up with. It was four layers of chocolate cake with 3 layers of raspberry filling covered with homemade chocolate buttercream. I finished it with chocolate shavings and fresh raspberries. It was seriously one of the yummiest cakes ever. One woman at the party said it was "pretty much the best ever." It always makes you feel good to get those kind of compliments. I LOVE my job!

Very Sweet Sixteen!

A sweet sixteen surprise birthday party is always a great occasion for a fancy cake. The 16 actually matched the decorations for the party which was very cool. There was a little bit of a sad story about this cake though. We had our first cake-tastrophe. When I was delivering it the top fell over when I did a u-turn ( that will teach me to pay closer attention) It broke the bow and made a gouge on the bottom tier on the back. It was sad and I actually cried. We put it back together at the party and it was still pretty presentable but I was very sad about the whole thing. I guess we all have to live and learn right???

A Blingy Bridal Shower

Another favorite of mine! This color combination is just too cute. I love every cake done with it. And this cake stand... is awesome! It is difficult to carry though when it has heavy cake on it and it is not the most stable stand in the world. But hey, the things we do for fashion right?

FUN FUN Wedding!

Yes, this cake was crooked on purpose. It was the guys who kept asking. The girls knew that is was supposed to be that way. My mom couldn't believe that this was for a wedding but little does she know that this is totally the new trend and everyone LOVED it!!!!

Baby Baby Baby!

Dang cute baby shower cake! The circle pattern in the middle is my favorite! I wanted to do the whole cake in those but you must do what the customer wants. :o)

"So Martha Stewart"

I delivered this wedding cake when no one was at the venue. When I went back in to take a picture there were two girls there looking at the cake and I overheard one of them say, "It's so Martha Stewart." I took it as a huge compliment. The green actually looks more green in the picture than it did in real life. It was actually more of an olive color. I have finally realized that simple can be BEAUIFUL too!

A Sushi Birthday

Nothing like having a birthday party at a sushi place and having a cake that looks like a sushi roll for dessert!

Groom's cake

The groom requested a Phoenix Suns themed grooms cake so here you go. The man cakes are always a challenge for me because I just don't think like that sometimes, but they usually manage to come out pretty cool.

Gelato Freeze inspired wedding

I LOVED this color scheme. I haven't been to Gelato Freeze but they tell me it's very similar to this. I thought this cake was beautiful and I loved making it. I can't wait to do her cousin's wedding in 3 weeks.

Ellie turns 4!

Ellie very much loves her pillow cupcake so her mom asked if I could make it into a cake for her 4th birthday. This cake was a BLAST!!! Chocolate w/ chocolate mouse... a kids dream party. The kids absolutely went crazy for this cake!

Double Bridal Shower

I was totally excited when they requested paisley! I have been wanting to do paisley for a long time but never really had the opportunity. I also found those little dragees at the cake store so of course I had to use them on these cakes. Oh, and the cake stands... I am in love with them. My dear friends gave me a gift certificate to a decor boutique for my birthday and I couldn't help but buy these cake stands. I have a six inch one too that matches.

Double Bridal Shower

This cake and the cake above it were for the same bridal shower for two cousins getting married 3 weeks apart. I was originally going to try to incorporate all of their wedding colors into one cake but I just couldn't mix turqoise, black, brown, pink, and green. It just seemed a little too crazy. Anyway... I love this cake! The blue zebra was my favorite.
